TEST FOOTAGE

During our last lesson our group went out and tried out some test footage scene, we traveled around in a car filming shot of passers by planing to speed up the people so they are walking really fast, we also used shots of our main singer (Toby) walking through crowds of people singing the lyrics, this footage didnt work for us as the passer by were very taken back by this and distracted Toby, and gave the wrong impression to the camera and didn't give us the footage we wanted.

We then came to the decision that we were not going to use any of our footage, as we didn't feel it fitted our story board well enough.

POTENTIAL SHOT SCENES

COMMENTS FROM GROUP 25

COMMENTS FROM GROUP ??

Lot of rapid camera changes look awesome, suits the song really well, camera angles and shots from the anamatic look good. Tho the whole song is still playin even when your anamatic had finished. good drawings etc! =D

OUR ANAMATIC

Our group worked well together to produce a good anamatics with all our ideas, within it. The only parts we felt that disadvantage our anamatic was some of our pictures as myself (Anneka) drew a few, although i am not a good drawer hehe, compared to Jacks drawing which are very good.
We think our animatic fits in with all the ideas we have and are planning and looking forward to starting to film and edit our footage.

In depth pan of our video

The video will open with a close-up of a bass guitar being played by a random stranger. Pan up during this to show his face then turn the camera round to close up of Toby looking puzzled.
Pause song at this point then kick the music in with mid shot or long shot (showing whole body) of toby walking down the street with camera tracking his movements as well as public reactions.
The choros then begins afetr 17 seconds where we will then cut to a shot of the entire band with their instruments. During this chorus we will use different shot of the instruments and their players.

This is the kind of attire that we will wear

A final idea to end our video on would be to do a final performance with our friends acting as hard core fans. This could be done in the dark room provided by the meida class and the lighting could be from various disco lights that each member of the group already has. An extra idea to add to the video would be to enter a facny dress shop and film members of the band dressing up. Then in editing this could be sped up to provide yet another cut away feature.

Summary

Basic concept, performance based video along the streets of various cities, broken up by quirky footage. Including the riding of toy horses and dance scenes. A Calvin Harris'esque performance will be paramount. Fast, Pacey and interesting.

Friendly Fires,
FUN
WILD
and FREEEEEE!

These are some of the videos that we have chosen to analyse to aid us in the development of our own video. The live performance will help us see how a professional performer does a live act. Using the next two videos we have paid great attention to the style and image of the lead singer and his band. From this we believe we will be able to gather furthers ideas and develop the progress of our video. An added piece that we have been inspired to include, from Calvin Harris's video of Acceptable in the 80's, is quirky props. As the title of our song is on board we felt a good example of such a prop could be a rocking horse, that we could take with us from scene to scene and would offer goods cut aways from the performances. However we feel that we can make the use of such props more interesting by setting them in unexpected locations.

In our music we are going to do a prodominantly performance based video. This is made possible as we already have the various instruments required. The performances will be incorporated into different locations. We want the video to have lots of action and interest which is why we have chosen to base it in the city so we may get some spontanious reactions from the public that we could use in the video. We want our video to consist of fast, pacey shots unaided by the use of a tripod to make it look more natural. Currently we do have any vehicles but hopefully next week London will be accessible.
If we were to shoot it in Cambridge:
Science Park
Skate Park by Parkside Pools
Outside of Grafton
Roof Carpark of Grafton
Mill pond
Willers Mill Zoo
We want to break up the shots by using fast cuts and tracking shots of band singing and air playing instruments walking around the streets of Cambridge.
We are going to base our attire on the music stylings of Calvin Harris. As the genres and basic style are similar. From watching Calvin's videos we have also decided that bright 80s colours could be included and added later through editing.
